In the bench trial that both defendants requested, two Jewish brothers from the Baltimore-area got their verdict on Thursday. City Circuit Court Judge Pamela J. White found 24-year-old Eliyahu Werdesheim guilty of false imprisonment and second degree assault, but not of carrying a deadly weapon. His brother, Avi, was cleared of all three of the same charges. Eliyahu’s sentencing is scheduled for June 27.

Both brothers were present when Black teen Corey Ausby was assaulted and pinned down after they found him "suspiciously" walking during a neighborhood watch in November 2010. Compared to the Trayvon Martin case in Florida, the Maryland teen was extremely distraught when asked to appear in court for the case. As expected, the week-long trial has sparked tension in the Northwest Baltimore community between Black and Jewish residents.
