16-year-old Alyssa Douglas took to her Twitter account during President Obama's heavily watched DNC speech, and became a lightning rod for criticism after assailing him with a death threat. The Ohio teen called for his assassination while also referring to him as a "piece of s**t." The young person's tweets instantly drew the ire and criticism from her followers, as students retweeted the message alarming others of Douglas' ill-behavior. One Twitter user even asked the Ohio native, "What is so wrong with you that you have so much hatred so early? You need help."

This is the latest in a disturbing trend of threats to President Obama's safety. Along with the death threats, there have been a slew of racist billboard ads as well. In March, 33-year-old Brent Dickinson was arrested in New York after being accused of attempting to assassinate President Barack Obama. He was charged with two counts of making terrorists threats, and his bail was set at $100,000. Last month, four members of the U.S. military, two whom were active, were charged with malice murder, felony murder, criminal gang activity, aggravated assault, and using a firearm while committing a felony after killing two people to keep their plans to assassinate President Obama secret.

The teen's tweet prompted the Clinton Massie School District, where Douglas is a high school student, to have a meeting with the teen and her parents. The Secret Service has also joined the fracas, and is investigating the threat. The findings will be reported to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio.
