Daymond John Invests $150,000 into Black Fish Fry Brand

The founders of Joe’s Gourmet Fish Fry should be happy campers.

Why? Because Shark Tank host and million-dollar investor, Daymond John just blessed the Atlanta-based fish fry company with a $150,000 deal in exchange for 25% of their company.

The couple appeared on an episode of ABC’s Shark Tank on Jan. 14. The duo, Joseph and Maranda Dowell, presented their seafood breading product to all five “sharks” : John, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, and Kevin O’Leary.

Joe’s Gourmet Fish Fry produces a seafood breading mix that serves as a light and tasty alternative to the traditional ways of frying seafood, poultry and veggies.

The Shark Tank experience was amazing! We are so happy to share our story on such a large, global stage,” Maranda told Black News. “It’s truly a blessing that Daymond saw the vision too, and we reached a deal.”

According to the website, the company is a “movement that started from a 10 x 10 tent, a father and son, and a dream.”

In the last 20 years, the father and son dua has traveled all over the country, feeding more than 700,000 festival and concert goers.

“We started out just to make a living, but when the lines wrapped around the block, we knew we could turn it into a $10 million business,” said Joe.

Shark Tank is credited with reigniting the fire that gets folks to start their own paths toward entrepreneurship in the United States. The critically acclaimed ABC reality series airs on Sunday evenings, and has become a series that inspires citizens to dream bigger and take action.
