Deadline is reporting the Season Two premiere of FX’s Atlanta drew in the best ratings for a cable primetime scripted comedy telecast within the last year.  Atlanta Robbin’ Season premiered last Thursday (March 1) to 1.8 million viewers.

The second season had a better ratings debut than even the first one. After not being on television for more than a year and a half, the show premiered to 1.3 million viewers. This number is up 7% over the Season One premiere. That draw is also close to 10% better than the average viewership of the entire previous season.

No stranger to success, the series earned Donald Glover a Best Actor Emmy and the Best Comedy Series Golden Globe during last year’s award season. Since its praise for being a great Black comedy, the network reports that viewers increased by more than 123% and 109% in the demographic of adults 18-49.

In total after live viewing, two encore airings and streamed watches the total number of viewers for the premiere is 2.7 million.

The show can be watched every Thursday at 10 p.m. on FX.
