There are few things more flattering than being compared to Beyoncé. But production planner Brittany Williams, who’s been repeatedly approached by fans of the music mogul confusing her for their Queen Bey, simply doesn’t see it.

The 20-year-old Detroit native who works for a Fortune 500 company recently spoke to BET about her life as Beyoncé’s doppelganger.

Williams says the comparisons date back to her middle school days. But her actual style idol wasn’t the former Destiny’s Child star.

“The funny thing is, I grew up idolizing Aaliyah,” she told BET. “I wanted to be like her. Adopt her style, her ease, her confidence and her grace. Because of this, I actually grew up with a tomboyish style, which I still have today.”

When it comes to the savage nature of the internet, people claims Williams, who said she aims to be no one but herself, is trying too hard. Some have gone so far as to label her the “$1 Menu Beyoncé.”

“Actually, I do not wear a lot of makeup,” she said. “I hate to look drastically different from my natural self. I keep it simple. Some people assume I wear weave to look like her, but most of the pictures that I post online are with no weave. I naturally have long, thick hair. Weave is a choice for me.”

“I actually don’t think we resemble [each other]. She is a beautiful woman and so am I,” Williams continued. “But at the end of the day, God created her to be her and me to be me, and I love being me!”

So despite cyber claims, it seems Ms. Williams isn’t putting on airs for anybody.

“I am the only ‘B’ of my kind,” she said. “It’s a confidence I feel that everyone should exude and feel.”
