2 Chainz’s latest battle wasn’t with a rival rapper. Last night (January 13), the trap star took on Nancy Grace on HLN to debate the controversial topic of legalizing marijuana. Things got testy as the conservative host repeatedly drilled and cut off her guest, suggesting that legalizing pot would lead to a slippery slope where kids of all ages would be puffing and passing. Yet and still, Chainz got some strong points across, touching on the overcrowding of prisons, health benefits of weed and how it could positively impact taxpayers. “If we got half of the states legalizing pot, if the rest of the community legalizes pot, that frees up taxpayers money, that’ll allow us to do something with this extra with these funds from fixing potholes in the street to building stadiums,” 2 Chainz said, later dropping his signature adlib, “TRUUU!”
VH1 Is Rushing Sorority Sisters Debut Season
So VH1’s Greek-meets-ratchet reality TV show Sorority Sisters didn’t exactly get the warmest welcome from viewers when it debuted last month. And after losing advertisers due to backlash from the show’s detractors, the network is bringing the show to a quick close. The last three of 10 episodes will air consecutively Friday (January 16), as a way to usher Sorority Sisters—criticized for negative depictions of Black sorority members and overall mockery of Black Greek legacy—off air. According to a statement released by VH1 yesterday, a decision on whether a second season of the show will be produced has not yet been made, but season one’s rushed exit seems to speak for itself. Don’t let the paddle hit you on the way out, ladies.

And the fallout between Nicki Minaj and ex-bf Safaree Samuels continues. The latest chapter found Barbie’s lover and friend of more than a decade sharing his side of the breakup with The Breakfast Club. While he was cryptic on some topics (i.e., who broke up with whom), Safaree was direct about his hands-on role in her music. “Don’t say, ‘Oh, I don’t have no talent,’ because every time it came to writing raps and doing music, it was me, her and a beat,” he said, later insisting that lack of respect was a major issue in the relationship. “She doesn’t do it by herself. It was me and her. Don’t discredit me on what I’ve done for you; that’s weak.”
