Drake Drops Meek Mill Diss “Charged Up,” Meek Is Not Impressed

You just knew Drake wasn’t going to sit mute following Meek Mill’s accusations that he uses a ghostwriter. And so, perhaps expectedly, he struck back at his Philly peer on Saturday, during his second shift of OVO Sound Radio on Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio station. Thus we have “Charged Up,” a passive yet aggressive response record with some slick lines about both Meek and Funkmaster Flex, who’s inserted himself into the controversy by broadcasting reference tracks that seem to give validity to the ghostwriter claims.

“No woman ever had me star struck,” Drake raps, alluding to Meek Mill’s GF Nicki Minaj. And then the stinger: “Or was able to tell me to get my bars up.”

Meek wasn’t too impressed. Shortly after “Charged Up” hit the public, the MMG rapper tweeted “Baby lotion soft,” before adding, “I can tell he wrote that 1 tho.” A Funk Flex Instagram post suggests that Meek will be on his show tonight at 7 p.m. with a formal response to Drake, either in interview form or in song. We’ll all be waiting.

Key & Peele Is in Its Final Season

Comedy Central’s Key & Peele—originator of President Obama’s Anger Translator clip—is calling it quits. Key said the two comedians are ready to move on following the conclusion of their show’s current fifth season. “It was just time for us to explore other things, together and apart,” he said, drawing a comparison to comedy legends Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor.

“We might make a movie and then do our own thing for three years and then come back and do another movie. I’m thinking we could do that every three years—take a year, go bang out a movie. That’s the plan right now.” Key & Peele launched in 2012 and has since greatly grown in popularity. It won’t be the last of the tandem’s double trouble act, though. Their first feature film, Keanu, has already been shot, plus a reboot of Police Academy and a possible new show for Comedy Central are in the works. “Wait till you see what we do next tho,” Peele tweeted.

35 of Bill Cosby Rape Accusers Appear on the Cover of New York Magazine

Nearly three-dozen women who’ve accused Bill Cosby of rape are photographed together on a powerful New York magazine cover image. The shot shows the 35 women, who range from ages 44 to 80, seated in rows, hands in laps. In the feature story, each woman describes the trauma they’ve experienced, as well as the other’s suggestions to keep silent.

“The group of women Cosby allegedly assaulted functions almost as a longitudinal study—both for how an individual woman, on her own, deals with such trauma over the decades and for how the culture at large has grappled with rape over the same time period,” writes New York senior editor Noreen Malone, in an essay accompanying the piece. “The first assumption was that women who accused famous men were after money or attention. As Cosby allegedly told some of his victims: No one would believe you. So why speak up?” The issue is available on newsstands now.
