The golden-voiced singer wrote an op-ed for Billboard magazine in response to the grand jury decisions in Eric Garner and Mike Brown’s murders. In the piece, Legend stresses the racial inequalities that still exist in America, cites his inspiration for co-writing “Glory” with Common for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. biopic Selma, and urges young activists to continue fighting for necessary and fair change. “We can’t wait for gradual and incremental change,” he writes. “Our government is a democracy, by the people and for the people.
