Will Smith Scores No. 1 Film with Focus

Is Will Smith ever gonna fall off? No. The blockbuster star is back on top of the box office with the con artist thriller Focus, which pulled in $19.1 million in its opening weekend. The film outsold Kingsman: The Secret Service ($11.8 million) and Fifty Shades of Grey ($10.9 million), both in their third week since release. Halle Berry Wants to Star in an Angela Davis Biopic

Halle Berry has played a wide range of movie roles, from drug addict to Marvel superhero. But believe it or not, there’s still one casting that remains on her bucket list: activist Angela Davis. The impossibly 48-year-old actress told The Guardian she considers an Angela Davis biopic a passion project.

“She’s just fascinating: the era she lived in, the Black Panthers and all that they stood for, and her connection to it, or not to it,” Berry said, adding that it’s not the ideal time for her to develop a film, nor would she do so without the 71-year-old icon’s blessing. “I have a lot of respect for how she lived her life.” Jay Z, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and James Lassiter executive produced the 2012 documentary Free Angela and All Political Prisoners, which chronicles her life and how her social activism landed her on FBI’s Most Wanted list.
