Nicki Minaj to Star in Upcoming BET Special

Does BET have an inside look at the woman caught in the middle of Drake and Meek Mill’s recent rap spat? It seems so. Nicki Minaj announced she’s appearing in an upcoming BET special, filmed at least in part at her Pinkprint Tour stop at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. “BET was filming my show last night for a special we’re working on,” she wrote in an Instagram post after the show. “Can’t wait for [you] guys to see it. Love [you] BET!” The performance followed a week that included Nick calling out MTV for snubbing Black artists, Meek accusing Drake of employing a ghostwriter and Drake dropping his own dis record, “Charged Up.” Let’s hope we get some insight into where Nicki stands on all matters once her BET show drops.

Styles P Reveals His Daughter’s Suicide, Changed Outlook on Life

Even hip-hop’s self-proclaimed “hardest MC” has tender moments. Styles P, one-third of The LOX, opened up to his Instagram followers about the loss of his 20-year-old daughter, who committed suicide last month. The caption was heartbreaking, honest and introspective, with the Yonkers rapper sharing a newfound outlook on money and fame. “There are no words to describe the day-to-day pain we have to endure and maintain through,” Styles wrote. “I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t take this time out to say from the most humbled part of my heart and soul that the dream most of us chase is not… more valuable than the love you get from your family and friends.” Take heed. Michael Jackson’s Dad Had a Stroke in Brazil

Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, was hospitalized Sunday (July 26) in São Paulo after having a stroke. The former Jackson 5 manager was celebrating his 87th birthday when he was taken to the hospital, reportedly suffering from an irregular heartbeat. It’s at least the fourth stroke for Jackson (who was notoriously accused of beating his singing children—including the future King of Pop—early in their careers).
