CBS has finally scheduled its highly anticipated Star Trek: Discovery reboot for a fall release date. The series will premiere Sunday, Sept. 24, at 8:30 p.m. ET. The show has had major buzz surrounding it since the cast was announced and we learned that The Walking Dead alum Sonequa Martin-Green would lead the series, which will be set in the Prime Universe.

For those not in tune with the Trekkie lingo, Star Trek: Discovery will take place about a decade before Captain Kirk’s five-year mission. Therefore, the series will bridge the gap between the first two series in the Star Trek timeline.

Martin-Green stars as First Officer Michael Burnham and the series will feature her ship as well as new missions and a new cast of characters. However, Star Trek purists can expect all of the transitional ideologies to remain the same, including the optimistic look toward the future and what it will bring.

CBS will release the 15-episode first season in two parts. Part one comprises the first eight episodes and will run Sept. 24-Nov. 5. The remaining seven episodes will continue in January 2018.

British actor Chris Obi, Michelle Yeoh, Douglas Jones and Anthony Rapp will join Martin-Green as series regulars.

Be prepared to live long and prosper when Star Trek: Discovery debuts. Though the first episode will air on CBS, the rest will premiere Sundays exclusively on the streaming platform CBS All Access.
