What a time to be Black in America. In entertainment we’re turning a new leaf. Beyoncé is standing up and speaking out, Carmelo Anthony is giving his fellow athletes a reality check, Jesse Williams delivered the speech heard around the world, and we’re paying homage to our icons on national television. Now, we’re duplicating that energy at this year’s Olympics. We’re excelling in all areas: whether it’s Simone Biles and squad in gymnastics or the team lead by a Black Olympic fencing master, we’re going straight for the gold. Nike has taken notice. In a moving short film collaboration, the athletic brand and Chance The Rapper pay homage to Team USA.
