March is Women’s History Month, and Brooklyn Congressman Hakeem Jeffries has chosen to recognize his favorite female MCs for their contributions to culture and music.

“In every field of human endeavor, women excel when given a fair shot. It’s true in politics, business, science, academia and Hip Hop,” he wrote for Medium. In honor of Women’s History Month, which starts tomorrow, I will drop my TOP TEN list of the best female rap lyrical collaborations of all time.”

Rep. Jeffries began his month-long tribute with the classic, “My Buddy.”

“This old school classic features a guest appearance by Monie Love, who makes the most of her cameo w/ De La Soul, Tribe & the Jungle Brothers in a manner that surely made her royal mentor proud!”
