Donald Glover appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night (May 10) to speak about the analysis of his viral video, This Is America.

Host Jimmy Kimmel noted that Glover is currently a hot topic in pop culture, thanks to his role in Star Wars, his hosting gig on SNL, the airing of the season finale of hit series Atlanta and the impact of his video. The actor, who goes by the stage name Childish Gambino, agreed that he is indeed “on fire” right now.

Kimmel asked him if he was interested in all the decoding and analysis taking place around This Is America. “I haven’t been on the internet since the Thursday night before Saturday Night Live,” Glover responded. “I don’t want to be in all the mix. It’s bad for me; I’m sensitive.” He explained that he avoids comments on his art because negative reactions lead him down a social media rabbit hole. “I’ll go into their Instagram and be like, ‘You’re not so great,'” as a means to appease his artistic ego, he said.
