Black history was made yesterday as the 2014 Emmy Awards nominations were announced, acknowledging a record 11 African-American nominees. Not since Roots scored nine noms back in 1977 have so many actors and actresses of color been pegged for possible trophies. Congratulations to Idris Elba, Kerry Washington, Angela Bassett, Cicely Tyson, Don Cheadle, Andre Braugher, Joe Morton, Laverne Cox, Reg E. Cathey, Uzo Aduba and Chiwetel Ejiofor!
