We never would’ve expected this…

UPDATE: 11/16/2017

The first time Evelyn Braxton opened up about her youngest daughter’s abuse, it was brief, and Tamar reportedly wasn’t too thrilled. However, now the mother of mother of six has sat down with The Grio to give an exclusive rundown on Vince and Tamar’s abusive relationship.

“It was definitely a volatile relationship. This has been going on for years. Everybody saw Vince as a knight and shining armor, [but] behind closed doors that’s a horse of another color. I’m tired of [Tamar] being abused and misused. They say the truth shall set you free. They’ve been trying to hide it for years. And I have the audacity to tell the truth!”

The matriarch of the Braxton women also told The Grio that when she addressed Herbert about the abuse, he’d place the blame on “Tamar’s mouth.”

“[He’d always say] ‘it’s Tamar’s mouth… [but] that does not give you the right to abuse her. Everybody has a mouth. Everyone should have the right to say what they want. Are you trying to beat [her] into submissiveness? No one has the right!”

Evelyn Braxton also went on to express her concern for her grandson and Tamar and Vince’s son, Logan, as well as her daughter’s delay on divorcing her estranged husband sooner:

“If anything happens to Tamar, that’s Logan’s (Tamar and Vince’s son) loss. That’s my loss. That’s her family’s loss. I don’t want that kind of pain. Enough is enough. I don’t care how much they smile. I don’t care how much they pretend.

“For the person who is abused sometimes they do change their mind. Their mind is so wrapped up in the fact that maybe it was my fault, or I can change them, or maybe I didn’t love him right or do the right thing; or maybe my family is too involved and it’s my family that’s separating us. They convince themselves of that because their minds are weak. If they were strong people they would get out of it the first time… I’m tired of her being abused and misuse.”

UPDATE: 11/9/2017

Last week, Evelyn Braxton suggested in an interview with TMZ that youngest daughter Tamar and estranged husband Vincent Herbert separated due to domestic violence, warning her soon-to-be ex-son-in-law to keep his hands to himself and to, “stop before he hurt her or kill her.”

New reports now claim that the Love & War singer isn’t too pleased with her mother’s comments, and is even refusing to shoot final scenes of her WEtv series, Tamar & Vince, with Ms. Evelyn because of it, according to TheJasmineBrand.

Tamar Braxton filed for divorce from her record executive husband Vincent Herbert last week, citing “irreconcilable differences.” According to the singer’s own mother however, Herbert may have been physically abusive towards her, and that’s the real reason behind the split.

TMZ caught up with Evelyn Braxton at LAX where they asked her what she would say to her soon-to-be ex-son-in-law if she saw him, and her answer was shocking to say the least.

“I don’t really have anything to say to Vince, only one thing: keep his hands off my child, stop before he hurt her or kill her. I love Vin, but I don’t want him to kill my child, as simple as that. Stop.”

The correspondent was clearly taken aback, stuttering through his next question, in which he asked Mrs. Braxton would she approve of Tamar taking him back if he cleaned up his ways.

“I think that if a person really means what they’re doing, they’ll go get help or counseling, right? I think he needs to go and get counseling, I really and truly do before somebody gets killed.”

In August of 2016, TMZ reported that a friend of Braxton’s called police from the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Atlanta after a domestic dispute led to Herbert biting his wife’s hand. Both Tamar and Vince denied the reports at the time.

Herbert is reportedly trying to win the mother of his child back, but if Mama Evelyn has her way, he’ll be nothing more than an ex-factor for the Love and War singer.
