FX has gone into business with Aftermath/Interscope music mogul Andre "Dr. Dre" Young by inking a script-development deal with him and writer Sidney Quashi. The one-hour drama-filled project, set in present-day Los Angeles, explores both the music business and crime business. Quashi will be billed as both the creator and executive producer of the drama, with Dre serving as an EP via his Crucial TV production company.

As the fledgling project is currently in the early stages development, there's no word on any casting decisions. But, with Hip-Hop royalty like Dr. Dre involved, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect other superstars to make a special guest appearances. Dre most recently made headlines when the rapper hip-hopped over strict Olympic marketing rules by giving his high-end Beats by Dre headphones to athletes of over 20 nations. Last Friday, Olympic officials ruled Dre's generous gift did not constitute "ambush marketing," and was not a breach of their guidelines.
