Zeke Upshaw, a forward for the Grand Rapids Drive, died on Monday after collapsing during an NBA G-League game on Saturday in Michigan. He was 26.

The Drive announced Upshaw’s untimely passing on Twitter on Monday.

“After continued efforts from the medical team at Spectrum Health, Zeke made his transition at 11:16 am,” the team wrote in a statement from Upshaw’s mother. “To family, friends, teammates, coaches, fans & confidants, thank you for your prayers and support during this most difficult time.”

A source told WOOD TV8 that Upshaw suffered from cardiac arrest during the game against the Long Island Nets at DeltaPlex Arena in Grand Rapids.

Upshaw became well known when he began playing high school basketball at University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, according to Bleacher Report.

He joined the Drive in 2016 after playing ball overseas.
