In 1947, Jackie Robinson became the first Black to break the color line in Major League Baseball. Last year, a biopic (42) was released about Robinson's journey. Jackie Robinson West — an all-Black Little League team from Chicago — might not have any movies about them. (Well, not yet.) But, with their performance in the Little League World Series, they would have undoubtedly made their namesake proud.

After beating Mo'Ne Davis' Taney Dragons and Mountain Ridge — a strong team from Las Vegas — Jackie Robinson West faced South Korea in the championship game. South Korea raced ahead to an 8-1 lead, but Jackie Robinson West fought back in the sixth inning, scoring three runs but ultimately falling short, losing 8-4.

Even in defeat, Jackie Robinson West received praise for its performance and sportsmanship. Although they're not the world champions this year, Jackie Robinson West will go down in history as America's best Little League team in 2014.
