In his first major role post-Saturday Night Live, Jay Pharoah will star as Floyd Mooney in the Jamie Foxx-executive produced Showtime series, White Famous.

The series follows Floyd, a talented young Black comedian on the rise. As his career continues to blossom, Floyd must learn to tackle the treacherous waters that come with crossover stardom. White Famous also stars Megalyn Echikunwoke as Floyd’s ex-girlfriend and the mother of his young son. Utkarsh Ambudkar plays Floyd’s frustrated agent who is determined to make his client an A-lister at whatever cost. Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx created the series along with Californication creator Tom Kapinos. White Famous is based on Foxx’s own personal experiences in Hollywood. He will also have a recurring role as a fictional version of himself.

In the series trailer, Floyd seems more focused on getting his ex-girlfriend back than the direction of his career. When his agent tells him that Jamie Foxx wants him to co-star in a film, but he’ll have to play an aunt he seems even more skeptical about Hollywood. We suppose we’ll have to watch the series to see if Floyd decides to slip on a dress or not. From the looks of it, Jamie Foxx’s character has no qualms about wearing woman’s clothing, and from where we’re sitting he’s pulling it off.

With acclaimed director Tim Story in the director’s chair, White Famous debuts on Showtime, Oct 15 at 10 p.m. ET. On Nov. 5, the comedy series will move to 10:30 p.m. ET.
