Immediately following the news of his own upcoming network, Magic Johnson has announced that reviving the Soul Train brand will be his first order of business. In addition to a televised variety show version of the classic show, there is also talk of Broadway, films, books, and even a possible cruise in 2013.

“The brand that your father has created will last a lifetime," Johnson assured Don Corneluis' son Tony at the legend's memorial service. Johnson's interest in the historic "Soul Train" series was made apparent last year when the former NBA star purchased both the brand name and the library, ultimately creating Soul Train Holdings LLC.

Having been involved in multiple business and entertainment endeavors for years now, the successful entrepreneur may just be the man to bring the acclaimed series back from its six year hiatus. Is it too soon for any Soul Train product without Don Cornelius' blessing? Or will Magic Johnson find an innovate way to introduce the brand to a new generation?
