Major League Baseball (MLB) has partnered with the New York Yankees to co-host a Diversity Business Summit, scheduled for April 14 and 15. The event—providing attendees with unprecedented access to human resource and hiring execs from all 30 MLB Clubs, MLB Network, MLB Advanced Media, Minor League Baseball Clubs and MLB’s Central Office—takes place in New York City.

Different elements of the third annual MLB summit will be held next Monday and Tuesday (celebrated as Jackie Robinson Day) at the Manhattan Center and the New Yorker Hotel. Registration is possible at MLB.com/diversitysummit.

“Diversity and inclusion throughout Major League Baseball are central priorities for our industry and are essential to future success,” says baseball commissioner Allan H. Selig. “Through the MLB Diversity Business Summit, we are taking innovative steps to provide unprecedented access for individuals who aspire to careers in our game or hope to find other valuable opportunities with our organizations.”

Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner says, “The Yankees have always been committed to maintaining a diverse workplace in every facet of the organization—from the field to the front office to the workforce of men and women who constructed the current Yankee Stadium.

“It is an honor for us to be involved with the MLB Diversity Business Summit,” Steinbrenner continues, “and we look forward to hosting the many talented attendees looking to launch their careers in the game of baseball as well as the business owners and entrepreneurs who are seeking partnerships with Major League Baseball and its teams.”

The MLB Diversity Business Summit will be a unique sports employment and business opportunity career and trade fair, providing both job seekers and entrepreneurs with opportunities to connect directly with decision-makers for jobs and business opportunities at Major and Minor League Clubs. The agenda for the event includes a keynote speech by commissioner Selig, league-wide networking, exhibit floor access, workshops and executive roundtable discussions.

Also, the Yankees will host attendees at Yankee Stadium for a welcome reception on April 14, and an April 15 Jackie Robinson Day interleague game between the Yankees and the Chicago Cubs. As a part of Jackie Robinson Day festivities, the Yanks will also honor Nelson Mandela by dedicating a plaque in Yankee Stadium’s Monument Park. The plaque will celebrate the life of the late South African leader and commemorate his Yankee Stadium visit and address on June 21, 1990.
