The 90s weren't just a decade for true hip-hop aficionados.  They set the standard.  From the lyricism to the musicality to the diversity of artists, it marked a high point in rhythmic American poetry.  As part of a new ongoing feature, 90, EBONY.com will explore MCs, trends and watershed moments of that era.

At the same time, we'll shine some light on modern entertainers embracing that aesthetic.  To kick us off with our '90 till Infinity coverage, we have none other than the epic MC Lyte whose commanding voice, on-point lyricism and refusal to "have it" (just ask Positive K) make her timeless.  She dropped by Johnson Publishing Company's Chicago offices to talk about what she's got going on today.  If you've seen her hosting awards shows, heard her on the syndicated Cafe Mocha Radio, then you know that's quite a lot.  But she did make a little time to share her list of favorite female emcees aka fem-cees.  Watch the video to see who she blessed with her microphone endorsement.
