Mo’Nique has never been afraid to speak her mind, recently calling out streaming giant Netflix over what she deems “gender bias and color bias.”
The Oscar-winner took to Instagram to galvanize fans into joining her mission, explaining that Netflix offered her $500,000 for a comeback stand-up special while offering Amy Schumer $11 million last year. They also reportedly offered Chris Rock $40 million for two specials and Dave Chappelle $60 million for four, according to Business Insider.
When asked why her extensive resume wasn’t considered while making the offer, Mo’Nique claims the streaming service replied, “We don’t go off of resumes,” only to read off Schumer’s resume as reason for her hefty paycheck.
The former sit-com star also claims Netflix referred to her as a “legend,” which means she should get paid similarly to what legends, such as Rock and Chappelle, were paid.
Check out her full explanation below.
Some feel the comic is asking for too much.
No living comedian should be making $12 mil off a 1 hour Netflix special. Clearly Netflix realized their mistake with throwing the bank at Amy Schumer but now it’s got Monique feeling salty.
