Luke Cage is set to return in 2018, and the villains are about to be even more diabolical. The Night Of’s Mustafa Shakir and Insecure’s Gabrielle Dennis have joined the series as John McIver and Tilda Johnson, respectively. If you don’t know much about the Luke Cage Marvel comics, John is Bushmaster, a criminal mastermind who goes up against Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Tilda is also pretty terrible. Known as Nightshade in the comics, she is a brilliant, holistic doctor with a complicated history in Harlem. Basically, she’s a genius-level criminal, and we’re pretty excited about it.

Luke Cage executive producer and showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the newest additions to the cast saying, “I can’t wait for audiences to see the compelling paces we put both Mustafa and Gabrielle through. From the moment you see each of them on screen, I feel they will be powerful additions to the world of Marvel and Harlem’s Luke Cage.” Executive producer Jeph Loeb added, “Mustafa’s incredible presence and power ignited us from our first meeting, and Gabrielle brings the charm and smarts to a very complicated role. Both will be wonderful additions to our already magnificent cast.”
