Oprah appeared on Good Morning America to discuss her role in A Wrinkle in Time. The Disney film directed by Ava DuVernay starring the young Storm Reid, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling.
Before appearing on the show, Oprah surprised a young girl by the name of Taylor Richardson who created a fundraiser to help other little girls see the film. Inspired by her generosity and ambitious, Oprah matched the total amount Richardson has raised.
Oprah asked Taylor, “How much money have you raised?” After revealing that she had raised $50,000, the mogul said, “I’m going to match your $50,000…Now you have $100,000.” The gesture brought the 14-year-old to tears.
Taylor later explained why she decided to raise that money. “In my opinion, representation does really matter. To see someone who looks like me and presented like this I just feel like it’s important for girls to see that movie,” the young girl said.
Winfrey then goes on to tell little girls around the what “the highest honor on Earth” is. Watch the sentimental video above.
