Ozy Fest has the answer to your Beyoncé Coachella disappointment. This weekend, Ozy Fest returns to Rumsey Playfield in Central Park for the second year in a row. The event is billed as an all-day party that brings journalists, comedians, musicians and chefs together under one roof. It’s clearly the only festival you need to attend this summer.

Several debates and panels are scheduled that will feature Katie Couric, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Van Jones, Grover Norquist and more. We’re most excited for Insecure creator and actress Issa Rae’s lecture. Last year during Ozy Fest, Rae gave an iconic speech on ratchet music called “Issa Rae on the Ass.” The Los Angeles native broke down Juvenile’s iconic track, “Back That Ass Up.” “The chorus alone lays the foundation and the formula for all successful ratchet songs. It has compliments, it has instructions, it has bravado and it has drums. It is perfect for strippers and all women of varying degrees of self-esteem,” she said. “If it weren’t for the duality that ratchet has afforded me, I wouldn’t be the complex, woke, freaky-as-fu*k feminist, dimensional Black woman who stands before you today.” With a sound off like that we can’t wait to see what she comes with this year.

Joining Rae at Ozy Fest this year is Jason Derulo, Zara Larsson, Samantha Bee, RuPaul and Talib Kweli on the main stage. The destival kicks off at noon on July 22 and runs until 10 p.m.

VIP tickets are already sold out, but you can snag general admission tickets for $50 on Ticketfly.
