Ahead of the premiere of its upcoming police drama Rebel, BET is launching a companion web series that will dive deeper into the lives of four people in the city of Oakland who find themselves in a bind and the only one who can help them out is Detective Rebecca Knight, known as Rebel.

Here’s how the network describes I Need a Rebel:

On one night, in the city of Oakland, four locals, a DA, a family man, a college student and a young woman find their problems impossible to escape. Over the course of the night at The Last Chance bar their lives will intersect with deadly consequences. There is only one person can help them…Rebel, a female private investigator who is as hard on crooked cops and she is criminals, and could be just a phone call away.

Written by Amani Walker, the web series will include a cameo by Rebel lead Danielle Mone’ Truit, and will feature Erika Ringor and Tristan J. Winger.

Rebel, which will take viewers inside the unique and conflicted relationship officers of color have with their jobs, will premiere on BET on March 28th.
