M-Tri and DJ Leecy T, “M-Triumph”
M-Tri and DJ Leecy T is what you get when husband and wife hip-hop heads team up and make booming music on their own terms. The independent duo just dropped “M-Triumph,” the first single from their forthcoming album (title yet to be revealed). “M-Triumph” is on some straight-up head-nod ish, where M-Tri raps about setting goals being optimistic and thankful for your blessings. Wifey DJ Leecy T got her man’s back by cutting the groove and chopping the track within inches of its life. And people say that positive hip-hop doesn’t exist anymore… meh.

Dawn Richard tapped Eve for the official remix to the record from her latest LP, Goldenheart. It’s an edgy tune that uses the phrase “northern lights” as a euphemism for sex. And she wants to take you there.

Big Sean ft. Common, “Switch Up”
“Switch Up” is proof that even so-called conscious rappers like to get ignorant from time to time. Big Sean tapped his G.O.O.D. music big brother Common for this Southern-inspired track, collaboratively produced by DJ Mano, No I.D and Rob Kilenski. It’s a hardcore song about one of the most typical rapper vices ever—women. They’re basically talking about smashing while in the pursuit of money; also, how fly they are and how they’ll give it up (or “switch it” up, in this case). The end. It’s definitely one of those kind of anthems for getting amped before or at a party.

Marco Polo ft. Lil Fame, “Fame for President”
Marco Polo bares “Fame for President” from his forthcoming LP, Newport Authority 2. It’s another head-nod inducing tune produced by Polo himself (of course) about the pursuit of fame, but in a non-Hollywood kind of way. This is a message from Lil Fame about schooling people on how to be real, and to fear for their lyrical (and possibly physical) lives. Gooning will always be gooning when M.O.P affiliates are involved. Newport Authority 2 will feature appearances from Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Artifacts, Das EFX, Lil Fame (of M.O.P, of course), Torae and Ruste Juxx, all rocking over Marco Polo’s production.
