Melanie Fiona, Marques Houston and Nia Andrews bring that heat for the lovers out there, while Stable (the lone rapper in the bunch) shares a “Hustla’s Story” in this week’s Sonic Boom.

Stable –  “Hustla Story”

Stable is an ASCAP writer/publisher whose music is internationally known. When he’s writing for himself, he shares varied life experiences, from losing his mother at a young age to dodging the street perils that plagued many Harlem youth in the ’90s. His latest offering is “Hustla’s Story,” and it’s a description of the aforementioned, but as seen through Stable’s eyes. Despite witnessing negativity, Stable became a “hustla” on his own terms as a full-time artist who hasn’t looked back since he started professionally in 2004. In this particular story-song, Stable flexes his descriptive skills to portray what it’s like for people who get caught up doing the wrong thing because the money is just too good.

Nia Andrews – “The Lovers”

So, with Valentine’s Day on the way, I had to incorporate a few love songs in the mix. Now is the perfect time to get to know Nia Andrews. A newlywed singer/songwriter based in L.A., Andrews has written for, recorded and toured with Common, Janelle Monáe, Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige and more. “The Lovers” is a beautiful ode to love, of course. Andrews effortlessly sings, “No need to fly away from where we are/Shoot me to the sun, I’ll bring you the stars/Nothing compares to this, a love so sweet /You’re my favorite thing like apples and ruby rings,” in what appears to be her signature jazz-influenced, nasal voice that kind of makes you think of Corinne Bailey Rae.

Melanie Fiona video – “The Wrong Side of a Love Song”

Melanie Fiona has a more cynical take on love with “The Wrong Side of a Love Song,” but at least she tapped Omari Hardwick as eye candy for the newly released video, directed by Larenz Tate.

Marques Houston video – Speechless

And, getting back on the lovey dovey note, Marques Houston is here to let everyone know he can still sang. The newly released video for “Speechless” corresponds with the song, which dropped yesterday. The baseline music is mostly a capella doo-wop, as Houston sings in falsetto about being rendered speechless by a woman so fine that he doesn’t know what to say. It’s perfectly romantic and sexy.

“Speechless” comes from his sixth album, Famous, due out March 26.
