Talib Kweli goes national, José James makes the ladies swoon, Norah Jones is about that remix life and more on this week’s Sonic Boom.

Talib Kweli “Push Thru” (ft. Curren$y, Kendrick Lamar and Glen Reynolds)

Kweli takes us on a U.S. city mini tour from NYC to down to NOLA and over to L.A. for his latest, “Push Thru.” The BK MC tapped Curren$y and Kendrick Lamar for the soulful tune about, you guessed it, pushing through the limits. Each MC, crafty with their storytelling, provides his own take on what that means to them, but the general theme is to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and do for self. Newbie singer-songwriter Glen Reynolds provides vocals on the hook. “Push Thru” is the latest from Kweli’s forthcoming album, Prisoner of Conscious (due April 23).

José James No Beginning No End

José James is an artist that absolutely must be included in every audiophile’s collection. His sound can be described as gritty, soulful, jazzy, sexy, sensual and fricking bananas. His latest album, No Beginning No End, just dropped and it’s definitely an audio descendant of, say, D’Angelo’s Voodoo. The album oozes cool, calm and worldly sex appeal, and will be much appreciated by music lovers with a sophisticated ear.

James, the son of a Panamanian jazz tenor saxophonist with the same name, grew up on hip-hop and indie rock from late 1980s and early ’90s. He was raised by his Irish-American mother in various places like Duluth, Seattle and Minneapolis and still travels for the sake of music. No Beginning No End was recorded worldwide in New York, Paris and London.

Norah Jones Little Broken Hearts (Remix EP)

This is the remix (no Diddy). Little Broken Hearts features four remixes from the songbird’s latest album, Little Broken Hearts, by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, as well as two remixes by Ibiza DJ José Padilla and a reinvention of “Miriam” for Peter Bjorn and John.

Available where music is sold.

Fabolous “So NY”

There was a video released a couple of months ago for this song, but as it turns out, that version and its video wasn’t the real deal. VEVO has finally decided to release the final version of Loso’s Just-Blaze produced homage to NYC.
