As we remember the music and television legend Don Cornelius, what better way to celebrate the iconic host than by taking a nostalgic ride back down the Soul Train line? Tonight, Friday, February 3, the Emmy-award nominated VH1 Rock documentary "Soul Train: The Hippest Trip in America" will air in honor of the late host.

Narrated by Academy Award nominee Terrence Howard and scored by ?uestlove, the documentary will showcase the many funky cast members, crew, fashion, dancing, performances, and guests that graced the series, as well as a behind the scenes look at the early stages of the shows inception.

The doc also includes interviews with veteran and contemporary artists who lived the Soul Train movement, a list including Chaka Khan, Snoop Dogg, Aretha Franklin, Sly Stone and Patti LaBelle. Soul Train marked an era of unbridled Black expression that reached out to televisions across the world.

Should music television shows take note of the successful series and create a contemporary version of it Or was Soul Train's success mainly a result of the Black experience at that point in history?
