Taylor Swift’s 10 Grammys aren’t enough to protect her from the wrath of Black Twitter, who are not only letting the singer know Cardi B has broken her Apple Music streaming record, but that her latest Spotify Singles cover of Earth, Wind & Fire classic, “September,” just isn’t what the world needs right now.

Swift takes the upbeat groove and transforms it into a folksy ballad with a country tinge that fans of the R&B icons just can’t wrap their heads around. Journalist and former EBONY writer, Michael Arceneaux, refereed to the song as the sound of, “unseasoned boiled chicken breast,” a sentiment with which several others strongly agree.
If you were curious to hear what unseasoned boiled chicken breast sounded like in song, take a listen to Taylor Swift cover Earth, Wind & Fire. https://t.co/5x1Ecwc1cw

I saw someone tweet me that Taylor Swift covered “September” yesterday and immediately thought, “Must be the Ryan Adams song.”

Taylor Swift covering EW&F’s September is inexcusable. That song is a fucking treasure. A classic on another level from anything she has or will ever do. Stay in your lane, little girl.

I don’t really want to hear Taylor Swift mess around with a classic like “September.” I’m good.

Fellow white people: don’t forget to apologize to a black person today for what Taylor Swift did to “September.”
