Tiffany Haddish has become known for her unabashed honesty, and continues to keep it 100 in new memoir, The Last Black Unicorn.

Throughout the book, the Girls Trip star shares her life’s most traumatic experiences, including being raised by a schizophrenic mother, enduring sexual abuse while in foster care, and suffering physically abuse at the hands of her ex-husband.

In a excerpt obtained by E!, Haddish recalls when her husband at the time became irate after seeing her speak with fellow comic Tom Green at a comedy festival.

“He grabbed me by the collar, he was like, ‘It’s time to go to the room now,’ in front of everybody,” she wrote. “Just snatched me by my shirt, and pulled me to the elevator and threw me in it…once we got to our hotel room, he was so quick. He snatched me by the neck and slammed me into the wall.”

This wouldn’t be an isolated incident unfortunately, as the stand-up revealed that after one particularly harsh fight, she ran to a police station that appeared to be closed. She then called 911 and told the operator, “Ya’ll need to lock me up, because I’m about to kill my husband.”

Police came outside to see a bloody and bruised Haddish, who was then taken to the hospital while cops went to their shared home and arrested her husband. The next day, she had a miscarriage, unaware that she was pregnant until her hospital visit.
