Tracy Morgan Making Television Return in New Comedy, ‘The Last O.G.’

Tracy Morgan’s return to television officially has a premiere date!

The stand-up will star in a new TBS comedy The Last O.G., premiering April 3.

 

The sitcom will revolve around an ex-con named Tray (Morgan) is who shocked to learn how much the world has changed after spending 15 years behind bars. He returns to his home borough of Brooklyn where his former girlfriend Shay (Tiffany Haddish) has married a successful white man (Ryan Gaul) while raising twins that Tray didn’t know they had.

The comedy also stars Cedric the Entertainer as the head of the halfway house and Allen Maldonado as Tray’s cousin Bobby.  The sitcom will feature many guest stars like This is Us star Chrissy Metz and Malik Yoba.

Morgan’s last series regular role was that of Tracy Jordan on former NBC favorite, 30 Rock. The Def Comedy Jam alum received several Emmy nominations for the part.

The actor was involved in a serious car accident in 2014, when a Wal-Mart truck driver crashed into his minibus, leaving Morgan with life-threatening injuries and killing comedian James McNair. After several months of rehabilitation, Morgan returned to TV over a year  later for an interview with TODAY.

The Last O.G. originally was expected to debut in October 2017, but was delayed due to showrunner changes.

Beginning with the April 3 premiere, episodes of The Last O.G. will air Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. on TBS.
