Allen contends that Sharpton and a few other civil rights leaders and organizations were effectively paid off to remain silent as Comcast sought to merge with NBC Universal. As a result of their decision to ignore Black media, African American-owned networks receive less than 1/10th of one percent of the licensing fees being paid out by Comcast every year.
