EBONY: This new album is out in three weeks. What’s the big takeaway?

ZM: To make a record is one thing and it’s nice, but the live show is one of the most true expressions of the music that you can get. In a studio, you can do things and manufacture things. But when you do it live, this is where you prove what the music is. If you can’t do it live, then it’s not real. People just can’t take away that energy of what it’s like to hear the music in a live environment.
