Getting pulled over for a traffic violation is stressful, but one Billings, Montana, police officer is brightening a few lucky motorists day.

The Billings Gazette reports that the city’s police department handed out 20 turkeys to drivers who were pulled over for minor infraction.

“The turkeys were handed to, let’s say, someone going over the speed limit a few miles an hour or rolling through a stop sign,” Lieutenant Neil Lawrence told ABC News.

The act of generosity is a result of a local Billings businessman donating the turkeys to the Billings Police Department.

While this is the first year the department has done such a thing, the community response has been overwhelmingly supportive.

“Our Facebook page has received a lot of positive comments regarding it. So far it’s been a very positive thing for the community.”

Nice.
