The love between late musician, actor, activist and poet, Tupac Shakur, and his mother, Afeni Shakur goes without question. And with the premiere date for All Eyez on Me quickly approaching, fans are highly anticipating the biopic that details the life and legacy of the “California Love” lyricist.
The film, set to debut on what would’ve been Tupac’s 46th birthday (June 17), highlights the megastar’s complex, yet abbreviated life in the spotlight.

“All Eyez On Me tells the true and untold story of prolific rapper, actor, poet and activist Tupac Shakur. The film follows Shakur from his early days in New York City to his evolution into being one of the world’s most recognized and influential voices before his untimely death at the age of 25,” a synopsis of the film reads. “Against all odds, Shakur’s raw talent, powerful lyrics and revolutionary mind-set propelled him into becoming a cultural icon whose legacy continues to grow long after his passing.”
The film stars newcomer, Demetrius Shipp, Jr., who plays Tupac and Danai Gurira of Walking Dead fame who takes on the powerful role of Afeni Shakur. Here are a couple of exclusive still images from the film, just in time for Mother’s Day.
