America’s favorite funnyman, Kevin Hart, may have an admirable co-parenting relationship with former wife, Torrei Hart, but apparently their relationship wasn’t always peachy keen.
During an interview with The Breakfast Club, the actor and comedian revealed a shocking revelation: that things actually got quite physical with Torrei during their marriage.
“Me and my ex-wife …when it got violent where we’re fighting [I thought,] ‘Am I really fighting? Am I holding my hands up as if she’s a man right now? Oh my God,” the What Now? star said. “I’ve really got my hands up to not defend, but counter. Like, I’m waiting for you to throw a punch. ‘Cause I’m about to counter the s*** out of you.”
Whoa.
The couple tied the knot in 2003 and had two children—a son and a daughter—during their marriage. And while Hart acknowledges that he allowed himself to get to the point of being ready to strike, he also noted when it was time to take responsibility for his actions.
“At what level of anger that I’m at, that I’ve gotten here?” Hart said. “I was like, ‘Alright, Kev, you’re gonna take responsibility.’ Whether she did whatever she did, you gotta start taking responsibility.”
Hart divorced his first wife in 2011 and married longtime girlfriend, Eniko Parrish last year. On Mother’s Day, the couple announced that they are expecting their first child together.
