A Michigan girl was held at gunpoint and later arrested by cops who claimed to be looking for her aunt.

WOOD-TV reports Grand Rapids police officers came up to 11-year-old Honestie Hodges as she was leaving her home and held the young girl at gunpoint. Cops then handcuffed her and put her in a police car.

The officers in question said they were looking for a suspect in a stabbing. The person of interest was Honestie’s 40-year-old White aunt Carrie Manning who allegedly stabbed her younger sister. Cops went to the house where Hodges and her mother lived as they believed she may have sought refuge in the home.

The cops’ belligerent actions toward Honestie’s are unsettling given the young girl clearly didn’t fit the same description as the older White woman.

“It made me feel scared and it made me feel like I did something wrong,” Honestie told WOOD-TV.

She said the frightening interaction has even deterred her from wanting to pursue a career in law enforcement.

“When my mom was walking past, I was putting my hands through the little bars, banging on the windows screaming please don’t let them take me,” she continued. “I wanted to be a detective or police officer, but now I don’t want anything to do with those kind of things.”

An internal investigation into the incident has been launched.
