According to Kentucky.com, a small church within the Pike County community has voted to ban interracial couples from joining the church and from participating in certain worship activities. Specifically, the Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church made the decision earlier this month. The proposal went through by a 9-6 majority vote, after 24-year-old Stella Harville, daughter of the church’s secretary, brought in her fiance, Ticha Chikuni, a native of Zimbabwe. The couple performed a song for the congregation, which surprisingly didn’t give anyone the Holy Spirit.

Former pastor Melvin Thompson, who pitched that the church no longer condone interracial marriage, may have failed to note an interesting fact: According to researchers at Ohio State University and Cornell University, the number of Black-White marriages have been steadily increasing since 1980. If “love is love” according to the holy word, why would the members of God’s church accept such a thing?
