Graduation season is one of the most important times in a student’s life but for many of us, the journey is not easy. As EBONY.com’s Senior Social Media Manager, I glance out at a sea of tweets, Facebook posts and Instagrams and am deeply inspired by those who are sharing their stories and inspiring others in the process.

We’re proud of all 2016 graduates and took the time out to pay homage to those who have overcome obstacles and limits to walk across the stage. Here are a few of our favorite #blackgradtweets.

When society couldn’t stop you…

When you beat a disease (and the odds…)

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Robert Woods graduated from University of Southern California, shared the story of his sister’s battle with cancer and how she motivated him to walk across the stage.

When both people in the relationship are focused.

When your parents make you proud…

And one for laughs.

And if you’re still on the hunt for college scholarships, this story is for you.
