Compliance simply ain’t for everybody.

On Wednesday, Randell Minott evidenced the aforementioned when he posted a video of himself chiding an unidentified White officer who immediately held him at gunpoint during a traffic stop in Kansas City, Missouri.

“A turn signal not made is a big enough of a crime for you to feel like you need to take out your service pistol, right? Right?” Minott, a New Jersey native, rightfully asked the cop in the video. “Big f**king crime.”

The two minute long video was viewed over 45,000 times on Facebook and shared more than 300,000 times on Twitter.

“You pointed your gun at me. Do you feel empowered?” he goes on to ask in the video. “You see what the f**k going on on TV?”

Minott, who is understandably overwhelmed with frustration, doesn’t hesitate to then dissect the way the officer’s behavior contributes to the ubiquity of police killings of unarmed black men.

“I would’ve just been another dead black motherf**ker, right?” Minott said to the blank-faced officer who then begins shaking his head. “You just would have been like ‘mistake happened,’ right? You would’ve just been able to wake up the next day, not lose a drop of sleep. But I would have had three fucking kids with no dad…cuz’ you want to come with your gun drawn.”

He continues speaking truth to power by acknowledging that all cops aren’t bad but those like the officer in question are responsible for the increasingly antipathetic public perception of police.

“You picked a dangerous job and I respect that but my G, drawing a fucking gun? That’s where I lose respect,” Minott said. “Respect is out of the f**king window. You drew a gun on me for a f**king turn signal.”

While fear prompts most POC opt to stay silent in situations where cops are abusing their authority, Minott said he wasn’t afraid to proceed in calling out the officer’s unwarranted hostility.

“Even though I don’t trust police, I don’t forget the fact that they are public servants and not a local thug on the street,” Minott said in a statement to Ebony on Monday. “With him starting off with a gun pointed when he holstered it I felt like it would be smart to record the situation.”

Minott said the officer never apologized for his aggression and still gave him a ticket.
