A Boko Haram commander who was freed in exchange for more than 80 kidnapped Chibok girls in a deal last May has issued new threats against Nigeria.

According to Sahara Reporters, a video obtained by the website shows Shuibu Moni, along with some members of his team in the Sambisa forest displaying firepower.

Moni spoke in Arabic and the language of Hausa. He stated that contrary to the Nigerian government’s claims that Boko Haram fighters have been chased out of the Sambisa forest in Borno state, they remain firmly in the region.

Moni threatened to inflict further violence in the country in the coming days, but made no mention of the recently kidnapped Dapchi school girls.
