Former Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter will reportedly be summoned to provide a deposition as part of former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s collusion grievance against the NFL.

Schnatter stepped down from his position as CEO of the pizza chain in December when he blamed the NFL protests for a decline in company sales. CBS Sports reports he’ll be asked to testify as to whether Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones influenced the 56-year-old’s scapegoating during the November conference call.

One month prior, Kaepernick, who was seemingly blackballed by the NFL for kneeling during the national anthem in protest of police brutality, filed a grievance against NFL team owners and commissioner Roger Goodell for conspiring in his continued unemployment. Kaepernick’s legal team is also requesting a deposition from Goodell’s wife.

Kaepernick’s silent protest and commitment to activism led him to be awarded the title of GQ‘s Citizen of the Year in November.
