Dylann Roof, the 22-year-old White man convicted of killing nine Black churchgoers as they worshiped at a South Carolina church last year, told a judge he has “no plans whatsoever to call witnesses” during the sentencing phase of his federal trial, ABC News reports.

Roof could face the death penalty.

The self-proclaimed White supremacist appeared with his hands and feet shackled in a striped prison uniform and confirmed that he will still represent himself.

Earlier this month, Roof was convicted of shooting and killing the parishioners at the predominantly Black Emanuel AME Church on June 17, 2015. The 33 federal counts against him included hate crimes resulting in death and obstruction of exercise of religion resulting in death.

Roof is also facing a state trial that is set for early next year. In that case, he may also face the death penalty.
