Chicago teen Erica Jackson has inked a Division 1 athletic scholarship with North Carolina A&T State University. Erica, who is one half of “The Birdie Sisters” duo, has been capturing the attention of sports fans for years as a trailblazer on the golf course. Both Erica and her sister, Myah, have shown that urban youth can aspire to become members of the PGA and LPGA. Erica will graduate from Jones College Preparatory High School this year. She signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division 1 golf at NCAT in Greensboro, NC on Wednesday.

“I am most proud of the college options I have,” Erica said in a statement sent to JET. “It is rewarding to receive numerous letters, emails and phone calls from schools all around the country that are interested in me based on my academic and/or golf accomplishments. However, the number of choices has made my decision very difficult.”

Just how many choices did Erica have? All twelve schools she applied to accepted her. Erica qualified to play in the Illinois High School Association’s Girls’ Golf State Finals all four years.
