A Canadian musician who goes by Tika created a photo series showcasing the beauty of plus-sized Black women. “Fat Femme Sisters” intended to portray the women in an “angelic and beautiful and soft” manner—and the endeavor was more than successful.

The series features Tika and four of her friends unabashedly basking in their beauty.

“I had a vision of black women around me signing alongside me, but I wanted them to look like me as I’ve never seen fat black bodies together dressed in all white,” Tika said according to Yahoo.

“Being a black woman who is also a fat woman, I relate heavily to the struggles that women of the same community deal with. I wanted to be a part of anything that spoke to those women and encouraged those women. Representation still lacks in the media for fat black women,” she continued.

“We are everything the world hates,” Tika wrote in the above photo. “Fat. Black. Woman. And yet, we exist. Unapologetically and without shame. F**k you. We love on ourselves.”
