American Airlines just can’t seem to act right this year. The airline is under fire once again, this time for kicking two Black professional basketball players off a plane in Dallas.

Why? Well, according to the New York Post, a flight attendant accused them of stealing blankets. SMH.

It turns out the blankets were actually given to Memphis Hustle guard Marquis Teague and forward Trahson Burrell after they boarded a flight Sunday bound for Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The flight, operated by Envoy Air, was leaving Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport at the time of incident.

The players were given the blankets by two first-class passengers as they made their way to their seats in coach. But an African-American flight attendant soon accused the ballplayers of theft. The men were then forced to exit the plane.

“It’s 2017 and a Flight attendant for @AmericanAir sees 2 young black athletes with blankets from first class,” Hustle assistant coach Darnell Lazare‏ said on Twitter, “his 1st comment is ‘did you steal them’ how about you teach people to get the facts first before jumping to conclusions.

According to American Airlines spokesman Joshua Freed, a manager who works for the airline apologized to Teague and Burrell. A first-class flight was also reportedly scheduled for the men to Sioux Falls later that day.

Given the series of incidents of racial profiling on the airline, Chief Executive Doug Parker informed American-Airlines employees that the company plans to implement implicit-bias training to combat what appears to be a wave of racially motivated incidents.

At the end of October, the NAACP issued a travel advisory warning Blacks who choose to fly on American Airlines of the possible subjection to “disrespectful, discriminatory and unsafe conditions.”
